We are delighted to present you Nafsiyat Intercultural Therapy Centre’s short film by Seda
Nafsiyat aims to improve the mental well-being of people from BAMER communities with
moderate to severe mental health difficulties. In this short video, we hope to display who
we are and what we do to support our clients.
Nafsiyat was established in 1983 by leading psychotherapist Jafar Kareem who valued the
need of accessible and innovative therapy to BAMER communities. We have many
psychotherapists, counsellors and volunteers from various cultural backgrounds and we
provide therapy in over 20 different languages. Nafsiyat is the first organisation in the UK to
lead intercultural psychotherapy.
“Finding difference in sameness” is a key aspect of our work. We appreciate people’s unique
experiences. As our Senior psychotherapist Dilek underlines, we try to help our clients to
build strong emotional muscles so they can move on with their lives. We aim to create a safe
transitional space so our clients feel held, contained and understood.
We are proud of our work and hope to continue and improve our services as time goes on.
We hope you like our short film.
