Black History Month 2024: Reclaiming Narratives

Today marks the start of Black History Month 2024.

This year, the theme is "Reclaiming Narratives" – a powerful tribute to the Black leaders who have not only shaped Nafsiyat but also redefined how we understand mental health in racially marginalised communities. Black History Month is a time to reflect on the invaluable contributions of Black communities throughout history, and here at Nafsiyat, we are highlighting the individuals within our organisation who have reclaimed their narratives and championed intercultural therapy since 1983.

From clinical leadership to frontline counselling, these changemakers have used their lived experiences to guide how we support our clients, ensuring their voices and stories are heard and valued. Throughout this month, we will be sharing the journeys of leaders like Lennox Thomas, Baffour Ababio, Elaine Arnold, Sega Habtom, and many more who have been at the heart of Nafsiyat’s mission.

Join us as we celebrate and honour the Black changemakers who have reclaimed their narratives and reshaped ours.
