Nafsiyat is excited to announce a job opening for an experienced, self-employed Group Therapist or Group Counsellor. We are specifically seeking Arabic-speaking male therapists to join our intercultural clinical team, offering essential mental health support to culturally and racially minoritised communities.

Founded in 1983 by psychotherapist Jafar Kareem, Nafsiyat is a pioneering organisation providing vital mental health services to individuals often marginalised by societal structures that exacerbate mental health challenges. We specialise in intercultural therapy, ensuring that those from diverse backgrounds receive the culturally competent care they deserve.
Role Overview
As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering group therapy and supporting clients through clinical assessments and workshops. We’re looking for a passionate professional with a deep understanding of the unique mental health challenges faced by marginalised communities, particularly those from Arabic-speaking backgrounds. The role also involves maintaining high standards in clinical administration and contributing to the overall development of our clinical services.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate group therapy sessions.
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, including safeguarding and risk management.
Lead workshops for clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Collaborate with the broader clinical team to enhance service delivery.
Requirements:
Accredited membership with BACP or UKCP (or equivalent professional bodies).
3-5 years of post-qualification experience as a psychotherapist or counsellor.
Proven experience in group therapy, including safeguarding and risk assessment.
A commitment to psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, or intercultural therapy approaches.
Strong experience working with diverse communities, particularly Arabic-speaking individuals.
Person Specification:
Registration with BACP, UKCP, BCP, BPC, HCPC, or BPS.
Demonstrated ability in group facilitation and managing group dynamics in therapeutic settings.
Awareness of confidentiality, risk management, and the complexities of therapeutic group work.
A critical understanding of systemic and institutional oppression.
