Our Intercultural Training Services

Alongside our successful clinical work, we also offer a range of training and development opportunities to mental health professionals to allow them to work across cultures and increase their intercultural professional competence.

We offer in-house training for individuals and agencies, including psychotherapists, counsellors, GPs, social workers, other mental health workers and other health professionals. We are also available for Seminars and Reflective group sessions.

    CPD-Certified Intercultural Development Workshop

    This workshop aims to enhance participants' self-awareness, empathic knowledge and understanding of other cultures.

    The cultural competence workshop is tailored to healthcare professionals and aims to delve into the complexities of racial, cultural, and intersectional identities. Throughout the workshop, participants engage in discussions that focus on developing the skills, knowledge, and experiences necessary to effectively navigate situational interactions that may arise due to cultural and racial differences, as well as assumptions about sameness. By encouraging participants to reflect on their own identities, the workshop promotes a deeper understanding and appreciation of others' identities.

    Intercultural Supervision Workshop

    Drawing from Jafar Kareem's 1990s definition of "Intercultural therapy," this workshop explores the world of supervisory dynamics. It underscores the importance of understanding the collective life experiences of both the supervisor and supervisee, acknowledging and exploring the conscious and unconscious cultural assumptions inherent in the supervisory relationship. Participants will engage with real-life intercultural supervision clinical examples, shedding light on the intricate racial and cultural dynamics intertwined in the multifaceted relationships between supervisees, supervisors, and clients.

    Intercultural Development in Schools Workshop

    Our Intercultural Development in Schools workshop promotes self-reflection and empathy among school staff. It provides a platform for participants to understand the impact of cultural and racial identity on their relationships and how they interact with their environment.

    Educators in local authority and government education departments, as well as school and college headteachers/ senior management teams.

  • Intercultural Seminar

    Designed for a mental health audience, Nafsiyat's Intercultural Seminar provides a holistic introduction to the essence of working and thinking interculturally.

    Nafsiyat Choice

    Nafsiyat Choice is a specialist intercultural service offered in-person and online, depending on the client’s preference and location, and can be offered in any of our over 20 languages. Nafsiyat Choice is based on an intercultural psychodynamic model, addressing underlying problems and causes, often from the past whilst also considering the cultural and societal factors at play in our client’s lives, such as religion, race, ethnicity, gender, disability and socioeconomic status.
